This very large boulder opal is too big for setting into jewelry. The face of the stone has been polished as well as the back and left as a specimen for collection purposes. Boulder opal is unique to the western Queensland opal fields and as far as I know cannot be found anywhere else on earth, so its obviously in big demand for gemstone and rock collections. The particular piece features a sheet of green mixed with some blue and potch mixed with ironstone. A beautiful collector’s piece.
